To commemorate the World Quality Day 2022, the Quality Professionals wing of CAHO had organised a virtual event on the theme ‘Leadership in Quality’ on the 10th December.

The event commenced with the welcome address by Dr Anuradha Pichumani (Chairperson Quality Professionals) followed by a special talk on Leadership highlighting the reasons why ‘Leaders’ are not always born, but they are made and the importance of leadership to ensure quality in healthcare is implemented at grass root level by Dr Vijay Agarwal (President CAHO).
A panel discussion on ‘Where does the buck stop for leaders in healthcare quality : Challenges in Leadership’ was coordinated and moderated by Dr Suvin Shetty (Vice Chair QP Wing, CAHO), Dr Suneel Mundkur (KMC Manipal) & Dr Sanjeev Singh (AIMS Delhi & Kochi) respectively. The panelists were - Dr Atul Mohan Kochhar (NABH), Ms Upasana Arora (Yashoda Hospitals Ghaziabad), Ms Gracy Mathai (BMH Calicut), Mr Gaurav Loria (Apollo Hospitals) and Dr S Murali (MAHE).

There was an action packed debate moderated by Dr Lallu Joseph (SG, CAHO) on the role of ‘Quality Managers in Hospital – Are they recognized as leaders & change drivers?’ Dr Deepti Madhu (Caritas Hospital, Kottayam) spoke in favor while Dr Anna George (Aster, India) spoke against the topic. The debate was highly interactive with the audience voicing their opinion by participating in the polls held online. The stalwarts from healthcare quality including AM Dr Pawan Kapoor & Ms Gracy Mathai shared their inputs on how without pain, there would be no gain and ‘Quality Managers’ definitely are leaders and change drivers. There were 3 competitions announced as part of Quality Month celebration and winners were declared and awarded.

The event was a huge success with over 280 attendees including CAHO Patrons & Governing Committee.
