The CAHO Diagnostic Division in collaboration with Healthcare Institutions and Quality Professionals is excited to propose the launch of a new initiative - 'Diagnostic Dialogues' aimed at enhancing patient safety by improving diagnostic accuracy and reliability.
This initiative is aligned with the World Patient Safety Day (WPSD) theme for this year and underscores the critical role of precise diagnosis in patient outcomes, The focus will be on discussing recent advancements and addressing diagnostic pitfalls within various specialties.
Purpose: The primary objective of this is to create a collaborative platform for clinicians across specialties—not limited to pathologists and microbiologists—to engage in meaningful discussions on the latest trends, challenges, and innovations in medical diagnosis. Our goal is to reduce diagnostic errors and consequently, enhance patient safety across all facets of healthcare.
Objectives:
1. Knowledge Sharing:
Case Studies: Facilitate discussions around real-world examples of diagnostic errors, their consequences, and the lessons learned, to foster a deeper understanding and avoidance of such errors in the future.
2. Innovation Exploration:
Technological Advances: Explore and evaluate new technologies, methodologies, and tools that can improve the accuracy and timeliness of diagnoses, thereby contributing to better patient outcomes.
3. Strategic Development:
Actionable Strategies: Formulate and implement strategies aimed at minimizing diagnostic errors and improving overall patient safety within healthcare facilities.
The first session is scheduled to be held on 29th September (11:00 am) on the occasion of World Heart Day 2024 - Theme: "Use Heart for Action." - Focus: Enhancing the accuracy of cardiovascular diagnoses to improve patient safety.
